The Samskrit Sammelanam of Thane Mahanagar District was held on 21st January 2024. Dr Shilpa Tatake COO Jupiter Hospital graced the Sammelanam as Chief Guest. Shri. Chandrashekhar Vaze President Western Region Samskrita Bharati was the Chairman of the Sammelanam. Akhil Bhaarateeya Sampark Pramukh Samskrita Bharati Shri Shreesh Deopujari was the Chief Speaker at the event. Konkan Praant Mantri Shri. Neeraj Dandekar and Sanghatan Mantri Shri Vittal Bhat and the august dignitaries inaugurated the exhibition gallery by praying the Sharadadevi and lighting the lamp containing posters and articles from Science Finance Arts Daily-Use tools / articles and Books. 100+ articles in different categories and 100+ posters introducing the scriptures in Samskrit were placed for display of the audience. Thereafter at 10.30 am the Sammelanam was inaugurated by the dignitaries followed by a detailed introduction about the Samskrit programmes and initiatives and the Sammelanam objective by Thane District Coordinator (Samyojak) Shri. Mahesh Paralkar The Chief Guest the Chairman and the Chief Speaker of the event addressed all the participants with their thoughts and views about the importance of teaching preserving and promoting Samskrit and its relevance for Bharat and Universe. Samskrit is the key to the treasures of ancient Indic Treasures. Samskrit is not just an adorned girl but an adorned Durga said the Chief Guest Dr Tatake. The Chief Speaker Mr. Deopujari emphasized on the migration from ones mother tongue or conversation language to Samskrit through pure hearing and pure pronunciation. He emphasised in eliminating the myth that Samskrit cannot provide means of earning or living for an individual. Chiarman Shri. Vaze also took the position of Samskrit for all and encouraged the attendees to take up the journey through Samskrit Bharati from General Samskrit to Ornated Samskrit.
In the second session the work of Samskrit Bharati was introduced by Shri. Haresh S. Amdekar Konkan Prant Sampark Pramukh. He gave a detailed account on the organization structure from ground level works to its peak complimenting the educational initiatives & courses of Samskrita Bharati. This has brought clarity to the minds of attendees about various facets of Samskrita Bharati’s works. The Chairperson of the session Smt. Shyamala Bhat Sahmantri of Samskrit Bharati Konkan Praant encouraged the audience to participate actively in reading teaching and coordination of activities.
Third session included the session on contribution of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the nation-building cause co-memorating the 350th anniversary of Shivaji Maharaj’s incarnation as Chhatrapati delivered by the Konkan Prant Patradwara Pramukh Dr Sandeep Joshi. Knowing the importance of Samskrit for awakening national sentiment he explained the work done by the Maharaj in the field of Samskrit including the creation of Samskrit Rajamudra and Samskrit RajaShabdkoshah during adverse circumstances prevailing then. The session was chaired by Sanskrit Bharati Konkan Prant Mantri Shri. Neeraj Dandekar. He encouraged everyone to use language meticulously in any form of conversation.
The fourth session covered unknown facts events and principles from the epic Ramayana delivered by Shri. Vaze that explained the difference between the original Valmiki Ramayana and the current popular Ramayana. Valmiki had explained the purpose of Ramayana and its historical significance. The renowned Samskrit scholar Smt. Lalita Namjoshi presiding over this session said that to know the truth one must go to the roots. She also emphasized that one should read Samskrit to know the roots.
The penultimate session included cultural programmes. The highlight of this session was the play by the students of Balakendram from Samskrita Bharati Thane district. The students took some incidents from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and present it to the audience in dramatically. This was followed by flute playing and Samskrit songs.
The closing session was highlight of the event with the keynote address delivered by Shri. Shreesh Deopujari. He focussed on simplicity accessibility and coverage of Samskrit. If we learn it as a language rather than a subject Samskrit is easy for everyone in society. He gave many examples to show that if all Samskrit lovers become active to make Samskrit live in their own locality Samskrit will soon be the language of the nation. He also encouraged all the karyakartaas to work to make Samskrit not only my language my family’s language but also the language of everyone around me.
Everyone at the conference enjoyed a lovely afternoon meal. This enabled informal discussions mutual introductions & conversations with new people. The attraction for the young & old was the selfie stand created.
The conference was attended by 300+ people including many responsible karyakartaas from Prant and areas of Thane and surrounding districts..
